It was the Practical experience of Claxton Walker and his associates that formed the basis upon which Industry wide standards were eventually developed. The Walker Family has been serving the Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia communities with construction and Real Estate services since 1742.

William L. Walker is the President of , and has been with the company since 1998.

William L. Walker has performed over 3500 inspections personally, including a wide variety of house ages and styles.

William L. Walker draws from his 25 years of experience in the local building industry. A native Washingtonian, he is the fifth generation to provide home building and real-estate services in the area. His areas of expertise include estimating, design, costing, and construction of new homes; as well as retrofit design and problem-solving skills as they relate to the remodeling industry. He has worked extensively with engineers, architects, contractors, homeowners, designers, home buyers, banks, and real-estate agents in the managing of his custom home business.

Matt Scharf, PE

Matt Scharf has performed hundreds of inspections on a wide variety of houses, apartments, and condominiums of varying ages and styles in DC, MD, & VA.  He is a licensed home inspector in Maryland and Virginia, a member of the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI), and the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of ASHI (MAC-ASHI). He is also a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Maryland and is certified by the Maryland Department of the Environment to collect drinking water samples.

Matt draws on nearly 20 years’ experience in engineering, inspection, and construction, having been involved in the latter since his teenage years. This, coupled with his education and experience as a professional engineer and home inspector has produced an advanced analytical, diagnostic, and problem solving skill set as well as an expertise in environmental issues.  Matt Scharf has been with the Claxton Walker & Associates since 2015, having apprenticed under owner William Walker.
