Technical Seminar by MacASHI on structural defects and conditioned crawl spaces was attended by William Walker, Scott Maury and Alan Miller. The topic talk was by a full service structural engineering company (JES Solutions) that specialize in all manner of structural repairs in addition to crawl space renovation.

Alan Miller has fulfilled the requirements needed to become an ASHI Certified Inspector. The American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) is a professional society focused on the interest of the professional home inspector. The Society is dedicated to improving home inspection activities through education and research; maintaining a professional code of ethics and technical standards of practice; and enhancing cooperation among individuals in the inspection profession.

Alan Miller, William Walker, and Scott Maury attended the annual MAC-ASHI seminar. Two main topics were presented:
Homeowners Insurance Survey Form Inspections and Inspector Certification and Decks Rails, and Stairs.
Bill Mason from Venice, Florida, ASHI’s Chairman of the Homeowners Insurance Survey Committee, discussed the Insurance Institute for Business and Home Safety (IBHS) Survey Form used by many insurance companies to help them determine the risk factors involved when issuing homeowner policies. Bill reviewed insurance inspections and use of the Survey Form. Upon completion of his seminar, the certification exam was administered. Everyone who passes will thereby be certified as Survey Form inspectors. All three CWA attendees passed the exam.
Michael D. Conley, Tampa Bay, Florida, Past National Director of ASHI and a Certified BOCA & ICC Building Inspector, discussed the key aspects of inspecting decks, rails and stairs. Defects and code requirements for all three components will be reviewed.

Alan Miller & Joseph Walker attended a seminar given by ACCA (Air Conditioning Contractors of America) National Capital Chapter on Heat Exchanger Inspection Alan and Joseph have been certified as Heat Exchanger Experts and are qualified to perform safety inspections on all brands of furnace heat exchangers.

Joseph Walker, William Walker, Scott Maury and Alan Miller recently attended the MAC-ASHI Meeting. The guest speaker was Ed Iames, Plans Review & Licensing Supervisor from the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission. Mr Iams gave a very informative presentation concerning the authority and responsibility of the WSSC for water, sewer, gas and cross-connections.

William Walker & Scott Maury attended an all day Tech Training seminar sponsored by the local ASHI chapter "Mac-ASHI". The seminar was given by nationally renowned author, master electrician, master plumber, Rex Cauldwell. The emphasis of the seminar was "The Electrical Inspection".
